My name is Darryl Jonathan Werner, MD and I began practicing medicine in 1988 after graduating from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. I completed an internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at Harbor UCLA Medical Center and entered community medical practice in 1991. I’ve been board certified three times in Emergency Medicine and twice in Hyperbaric and Undersea Medicine. During my career, I served as the Medical Director of an emergency department and trauma center. I went on to found a successful medical practice specializing in healing complex wounds. After retiring from medical practice in 2020, I reinvented myself as a medical school professor and then a healthcare consultant.
After more than 35 years in the medical profession, I understand how healthcare works and I know how to solve problems.
When we work together, I will be your healthcare teacher and navigator. I will teach you to understand your medical condition as well as your test results and treatments. I can guide you to form questions and help you communicate with your physicians as an informed patient or advocate with high expectations. We may identify a medical oversight, new ideas, or question charges that seem excessive. You will learn to navigate a confusing healthcare system and be empowered to take charge.
I am not able to be your doctor, and I cannot diagnose, treat or prescribe for your condition. You already have at least one physician, and I am here to help you to succeed with that doctor. All suggestions I may make are educational. You should always discuss our ideas with your medical professionals and adhere to their recommendations.
